Best Fragrance- Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia
Wednesday, July 7th, 2010
Anyone that reads my beauty recommendations on this blog or in the national press will already know that I am a huge Jo Malone fan, so it was with much excitement that I attended the launch of the autumn fragrance, English Pear & Freesia. Inspired by Keats’ ode ‘To Autumn’ it perfectly captures the mood of a crisp, autumnal day and all the smells associated with that. Juicy pear combines with the distinctive clean scent of freesia in a sweet fragrance that develops a softer side over time. Base notes of patchouli, white amber & musk give it a lasting warmth that has already garnered many compliments, and I predict that this will be a big hit when it arrives in stores this september.
Price: £32
Following on from the cult success of L’Air de Rien which was created by Lyn Harris for Jane Birkin, Un Petit Rien is a lighter version perfectly suited to spring. Notes of neroli, oak moss, & musk are clear & fresh, and appear to float on your skin rather than envelop it. The packaging features Birkin’s hand drawn nymphs making this a highly covetable gift.
Although created with men in mind, Grey Vetiver is the most gorgeous new unisex scent to hit the stores in a long time. Tom Ford has hit exactly the right note with this subtle, sophisticated combination of grapefruit, sage, nutmeg and the star performer, vetiver. The elegant frosted bottle is topped with silver toned cap, making it suitably ambiguous and an ideal gift to borrow !
Vetyver Cologne is my favourite scent at the moment. It is equally suited to both sexes as it smells fresh and clean but develops into a softer, welcoming fragrance as the day wears on. Apply it liberally after a shower as it is a cologne and lingers subtly rather than trailing along behind you. Refreshing, light and totally addictive.
Launching this spring, the Eau de Sisley trio are numbered from 1 to 3, and contain similar ingredients but blended in different strengths. They are all beautifully subtle and delicate, and will appeal to those of you that like to wear your perfume rather than be worn by it.
